“I imagine myself on a rooftop in the West Village, taking in this great city, my new home, with pleasure and delight, lights of buildings in the distance glowing, late night work hours, new immigrants arriving, jazz tunes playing below…
I strive to balance this impression with color and form, dance with basic shapes and quick strokes, capture the moment free of self-conscious thought. A gesture of my arrival, an instantaneous view.”
